Do not keep to fixed breastfeeding times but let your baby decide when he/she wishes to be fed. A routine will establish itself. Initially, your baby may demand to be fed every hour. Or babies who sleep for a long time may miss a meal and wake up extremely hungry. Let your baby sleep; he/she will demand to be fed when necessary.
However, there is an exception. If your baby is very weak or does not weigh enough, it may be necessary under certain circumstances to wake him/her every 3-4 hours for breastfeeding.
It does not matter if your breasts are big or small, as there is no ideal breast shape for nursing your child. Your baby will adapt. As soon as your child sucks at your breast, certain hormones are released which are responsible for milk production and supply ‒ and this is in no way dependent on the size of your breasts.
What is decisive is that your baby maintains your milk production through regularly sucking at the breast. You should not disturb this perfect interplay by giving your baby the bottle in between times.
